Skills development
Looking back at my college magazine, I can see that my standard of work has really improved, which you can see from my music magazine. I think that this is because I have learned to use photoshop alot better since the college magazine. For my music magazine I learnt to change the look of the writing, edit pictures and how to use the space effectively. The college magazine was also really crowded, so I made sure that my music magazine was kept simple and less crowded.Even though the two magazines are targeting two completely different audiences, I think that my music magazine does the job of attracting the audience better as it is alot bolder and eye catching. The main picture is also more noticable and larger to catch the audiences attention from further away.
I am really happy with the way that my music magazine turned out and I think that my photoshop skills have improved dramatically leading on from my college magazine. I think that I have created this magazine to the best of my abiltity and that no more improvements could be made.

Technologies used
-Photoshop for the actual construction of the pages of my magazine, editing and typing of text, and picture editing.
-Microscoft word for the write up of some research questions, as this was the easiest program available to me where I could check the spelling and puncuation.
-The internet blogger for the write up and posting of my finished products.
-Flickr for annotating the appropiate images and finished products.
-The google browser for researching other magazines
I used a digital camera to collect my primary images.
How I attracted and addressed my audience
The colour scheme is very appropiate for attracting my target audience, as they are both dark colours and are often used together, as they work very well and are very effective. The black of the background really helps to make the red text to stand out and easy to read. I have also used the same colour scheme all the way through my magazine to keep consistency and to keep the magazine simple.
One of the unique selling points of the magazine is the sticker I have put on the front cover, as it is telling the reader that the magazine has been voted best alternative magazine of 2009, and therefore must be good quality and have several followers. The line, 'be proud to be different' is the whole message of the magazine and acts like the catch phrase in which the magazine is associated with, and with this line alone a reader can recognise what the point of the magazine is.
My contents page is aimed at my target audience, as I have based my entire magazine around the alternative genre and therefore everything in the magazine is in some way connected to this genre, making it an interest for my target audience. The pictures also go with the page titles on the contents page and fits in with my chosen genre.
My double page spread attracts the audience as it is easy on the eye but also informative on the chosen subject, which is my interview with the singer Vickie. I have used two large pictures of her as the background for the spread, which are the same picture but one is reversed so she looks like she is facing the other way. I thought that this looked different from other magazines and also allowed more space for the actual interview rather then trying to add pictures onto the end of the text. I faded the background pictures to make the text alot more readable and that so the background doesn't take attention away from the interview.

Target audience
The person in the picture to the right, is the kind of person I am aiming to buy my magazine. I am aiming for teenagers and young adults of the gothic/emo/alternative style and basically anyone who isn't afraid to be different, to want to buy my magazine. This target audience would be interested in itunes, band posters and gig information, all of which I have included in my magazine. What kind of media institution might distribute my magazine and why

The media institution that I think would be most suited to my magazine, is Bauer. This publishing company publishes Kerrang magazine which is similar to the magazine I have created and would attract the same type of audience, which shows that it has experience in my genre field and they know the target audience they are aiming for.
Bauer operates in 15 countries worldwide, so have a wide circulation. They also have stakes in television and radio stations, so would be very good for advertising. They control 262 magazines which shows that they must be an success and trustworthy. All of these factors mean that my magazine would have brilliant advertising and would be distributed all over the world. This also means that the company must be financially stable and there would be no chance of the company shutting down and my magazine disappearing. My magazine would also be available online, reaching a wider audience.
I think that there is a gap in the market for my magazine, as there is no magazine that covers such a wide variety of music, from Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson to bands like All Time Low and Bullet For My Valentine, so I think that my magazine would be a success with this company.
